Finding permanent loving homes for animals that are neglected or unwanted is our ultimate goal. To this end, we work very hard to make sure every adoption is a perfect match. Our adoption application is long and we ask quite a few questions. But every question is designed to make sure that your family and the pet you are interested in are right for each other. We even encourage "sleepovers.' That is, we want you to have the pet visit for a few days before the adoption is final. This helps to insure that your family members, lifestyle and current pets are all compatible with this possible new family member.

In addition to reviewing your application, we will speak with both your personal and veterinary references. Once, the application has been reviewed and approved, we will  visit your home and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

If at any time during the life of your pet, your circumstances change so that you can no longer provide a suitable home, the DHS will accept the return of your pet, no questions asked.  The DHS will always be there to help and advise you. We are committed to our mission and will be with you every step of the way.
